Over time, the app slowly became something it was never meant to be. More and more features were added, new sections were introduced, and while many of them were useful individually, the overall experience started feeling cluttered and overwhelming. Instead of helping users manage their finances more easily, the app began moving away from its original goal of simplicity.
Version 7.4 was created to fix that.
Rather than continuing to build on top of an increasingly crowded experience, SimplyBudget was redesigned entirely from scratch with a much clearer vision, making expense tracking feel effortless, modern, and approachable again.
As part of this redesign, several features were intentionally removed. Loyalty cards, bill tracking, and other secondary tools were taken out of the app in order to focus entirely on the core experience of understanding and tracking spending. Every remaining feature now has a clear purpose and fits into a simpler, more focused workflow.
At the same time, SimplyBudget 7.4 introduces some of the most powerful features the app has ever had.
One of the biggest additions is Voice AI Logging, allowing users to simply speak their expenses naturally while AI automatically detects the merchant, amount, category, date, and transaction logo. The goal was to remove as much friction from logging expenses as possible.
Another major addition is Ask Me, an AI-powered finance assistant that lets users ask questions about their spending in plain language and receive instant insights. Instead of manually searching through transactions or categories, users can simply ask and get answers immediately.
This update also introduces automatic expense tracking through Google integration, allowing SimplyBudget to securely detect purchase emails and automatically create expense entries for users. Combined with the redesigned Analyze page and improved visual breakdowns, the app now provides a much clearer understanding of spending habits.
The visual experience has also been completely rebuilt:
Cleaner layouts
Faster navigation
Improved onboarding
Redesigned settings
Better dark mode support
Smoother animations and transitions
Faster performance across the app
SimplyBudget 7.4 also includes the migration from BrandFetch to Logo.dev for transaction branding and logo support, alongside major stability improvements and smarter AI-powered categorization.
This update was never about adding more features.
It was about removing distractions, simplifying workflows, and returning SimplyBudget to its original purpose, making personal finance feel simple enough for anyone to use consistently.
